Jordanna G. Thigpen
Jordanna G. Thigpen is a senior associate at Johnson & Johnson, where she focuses on complex business litigation, entertainment litigation, consumer class actions, partnership disputes, and intellectual property matters.
Ms. Thigpen received her B.A. in U.S. History from the University of California at Davis and earned her J.D. at the University of San Francisco School of Law. At USF, she was a founding member of the USF Chapter of the Equal Justice Society, served as Vice President of the Student Bar Association, and received the Edward J. McFetridge Award for Excellence in Advocacy.
After law school, Ms. Thigpen clerked for the Honorable Ronald Evans Quidachay in the San Francisco Superior Court’s Law and Motion Department.
In 2004, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors appointed her to the San Francisco Small Business Commission, and in 2006, her fellow Commissioners elected her to serve as President. In 2008 she was named Small Business Advocate of the Year by the San Francisco Small Business Network.
From 2006 – 2008, Ms. Thigpen also served as Deputy Director of the San Francisco Taxi Commission. In 2008, Mayor Gavin Newsom appointed her to serve as the Commission’s Executive Director. During her tenure at the Taxi Commission, Ms. Thigpen established the administration of the City’s historic hybrid taxi legislation, and successfully prosecuted dozens of individuals accused of misusing City permits and exploiting the San Francisco taxi industry. In Taxi Commission v. Union Cab, Ms.Thigpen’s work as lead attorney secured the closure of a taxi company accused of defrauding several dozen victims. In 2009, she oversaw a merger of the Taxi Commission with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and coauthored a new Division II, Article 1100 of the San Francisco Transportation Code.
Since 2009 Ms. Thigpen has served as a complex business litigator, obtaining over $229 million in settlements and verdicts to date. Her work on In re Medical Capital Sec. Litig. before Judge David O. Carter in the Central District of California assured, in 2013, the largest recovery in American history against an indenture trustee, for which she and her team were nominated as Consumer Attorneys of the Year by the Consumer Attorneys of California.
Ms. Thigpen is a member of the State Bar Committee for the Administration of Justice, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Beverly Hills Bar Association, and the Consumer Attorneys of California. She is licensed to practice in California, New York, and the District of Columbia.
